Movie Costume Ideas

     Are you a big movie fan?  Or are your kids big movie fans?  Maybe you need a Halloween costume, but are unsure of what you want to be or what your kids should be.  Well, you have come to the right place.  My goal is to give you a variety of options of popular movie characters that are easily recognizable and perfect for Halloween.  I hope this helps!

Cinderella

The story of Cinderella has been famous around the world and has been retold for ages.  It is a timeless classic.  It is the story of an oppressed girl who is treated poorly by her stepmother and stepsisters.  She finds happiness when a prince sees her at his ball and decides to make her his wife.  This story has been retold in many cultures and has a variety of versions, but it has the same common theme.

The Incredible Hulk

The Hulk is a fictional character that first appeared in Marvel Comics.  The story comes from a physicist named Dr. Bruce Banner who is accidentally exposed to a blast of a test detonation of a gamma bomb.  As a result of the bomb, Banner would involuntarily transform into the Hulk, who is a giant monster who just wants to be left alone.  The Hulk has been portrayed in about six television movies as well as in three animated series and a variety of video games.  This is a great costume for boys.

Superman

Superman is a classic comic book superhero and is a cultural icon in the United States.  Superman was born on Kal-El on the planet Krypton, but was rocketed to Earth by his father right before Krypton was destroyed.  He was discovered, adopted, and raised by a Kansas farmer and his wife.  He was named Clark Kent.  He began to develop superhuman abilities which he began to use to help humanity.  Recent Superman movies have also reinterested children and adults alike in this character.

Princess Jasmine

Princess Jasmine is a fictional Arabian princess in the 1992 movie Aladdin, as well as the two sequels, The Return of Jafa and Aladdin and the King of Thieves.  She is also a star of the animated television series, Aladdin.  She is the first Disney Princess that is not of European descent.  The outfit Princess Jasmine is most associated with is a bedlah outfit which has long poofy bustle pants and a top that does not cover her forearms and leaves her midriff bare.  Her hair is black and she pulls it back in a low ponytail, which can easily be replicated with a long curly wig, and she wears a headband with a sapphire.

Belle

Belle is the female heroine of the Disney Beauty and the Beast movie and its sequels, Beauty and the Beast:  The Enchanted Christmas and Beauty and the Beast:  Belle's Magical World.  Belle is an official Disney Princess.  Here she is wearing a yellow ball gown which she wore during the song "Beauty and the Beast" in the film.  Throughout most of the film she wars a blue and white peasant dress with a white apron.  With the dress, she wears a blue bow in her hair as well as brown shoes. 

Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa is a fictional character played by Sylvester Stallone in the Rocky series.  He is a boxer. He wins the Heavyweight Championship of the World twice.  The Rocky series has been in production from 1976 to 2006.  He continues to be a recognizable movie character to this day.

Batman

Batman is a fictional character who appears as a comic book superhero.  Batman's identity is Bruce Wayne.  As a child, he witnessed the murder of his parents.  He fights crime.  He does not have any superpowers.  Batman is a cultural icon.  He has appeared in mini series and films.  He continues to be popular today and is an easily recognizable movie costume.

Iron Man

Iron Man is a fictional character who is a superhero that first appeared in comic books.  Iron Man was born as Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark, but suffered a severe heart injury and created a powered suit of armor to save his life and to escape captivity.  He then decides to use the suit to protect the world as Iron Man.  The suit has many technological devices that help him fight crime.  He has been a member of the superhero team, The Avengers, and has been in several animated TV shows and movies.  He appeared in the movie Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

High School Musical

High School Musical has become a very popular Disney Channel movie.  There are a number of characters to dress as from the movie.  They include Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, Sharpay Evans, Ryan Evans, Chad Danforth, Taylor McKessie, Jack Bolton, Ms. Darbus, Kelsi Nielsen, Zeke Baylor, and Jason Cross.

Transformers

This is a Bumblebee costume, but there are many transformers to choose from.  You can choose Optimus Prime, Starscream, Megatron, Bulkhead, Bonecrusher, Jazz, Barricade, and more.  These costumes are very popular today, especially due to the popularity of the new Transformers movies.

Buzz Lightyear

Buzz Lightyear first appeared in the animated film, Toy Story.  He has also been in the movie Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins and the television series, Buzz Lightyear of Start Command and two subsequent sequels.  His catch phrase is "To infinity...and beyond!"  Buzz is a space ranger from the Intergalactic Alliance and is known for his bravery and courage.  His spacesuit is really cool because it has a lot of neat features and capabilities, such as unfolding wings, boosters at the bottom of the pack, and the ability to translate all of his words into any language.
